The ARRIS SURFboard G36 is a DOCSIS cable modem and Wi-Fi gateway. Its local Web Manager uses 192.168.0.1 on the documented retail workflow, but the login form depends on how the gateway was originally set up.

How do you open the G36 Web Manager?

Connect to the G36 local network.
Open http://192.168.0.1.
Follow the HTTPS redirect if shown.
If the login page asks for Username, use admin plus the custom password created during browser setup.
If it asks for Email Address, retrieve the corresponding Web Manager credentials from SURFboard Central.

ARRIS notes that a local browser security warning can appear because of the gateway’s local certificate. Confirm that you are connected to your own G36 and using its documented local address before proceeding.

What if the G36 password is forgotten?

ARRIS states that if Web Manager login is unsuccessful because the administrator password cannot be recovered, a factory reset is required to reset that password. A reset erases configuration changes and requires the gateway to be configured again. Separate cable activation from router login

The G36 contains both modem and router functions. A successful login does not prove the cable service is activated or healthy. If the local interface opens but the internet is down, inspect DOCSIS/connection status and the ISP activation/provisioning state before changing Wi-Fi or LAN settings.

Before resetting the G36

Record Wi-Fi names/security, LAN settings, reservations, forwarding, DNS choices, and any configuration you will need to rebuild. If the cable provider has activation requirements, have the account/service information needed to restore service. Do not apply access-point or mesh-node troubleshooting assumptions to the G36 unless the exact documented configuration actually uses such a mode.
